Anyone watch this last night? Very interesting program. I watched it both times with my wife and we were entranced. What these folks do is simply amazing. I can't say I have any attraction for diving deep unless I was hunting but I can certainly appreciate the dedication and discipline of these incredible athletes. If there is a replay of the program I would suggest anyone interested in freediving should watch it.

My girlfriend and I watched it. It is amazing the way they train. I'm not so sure I'm into that kind of competitive freediving. I'd love to be able to do 200' though.

It was an interesting program that I thought would have pretty broad appeal even to nondivers. From the description I thought that it would be more basic given that they called him a "novice". But she trained that guy to compete in his first world competition, and he came in 12th (I think). Tanya wasn't hard on the eyes either - what a body! Thanks for the heads up on the show.

I watched it both times myself.Really good show.It was really informative seeing those guys SWB.Taught me alot about what to look for in myself and others while diving.Tayna is extremly hot!!!

I agree. It was very worthwhile to watch and I recommend any freedivers to watch it next time it's on. It lets you see what happens during a samba and lets you imagine what would happen if that happened if he was diving alone. It definately brought back images of my friend's SWB. Luckily, a buddy was there to pull him up.

It's in that Caymanian blood! Yeah, I watched it and my wife officially squashed all hopes of me going to the performance freediving school. I really liked it, but if I am going to break any records, it will be out diving with my cousins.

They only thing i didn't agree with is them saying freediving is painfull and telling him to push through his ear pain.

They said that up to 50 recreational freedivers in Europe alone die each year from blackouts and such.

I dont know if that is true??

Seeing those major sambas was SCARY!!!
Good program, but I wish they filmed the whole dives in enire length, so we could see the total times.

Maybe the didn't show it cuz they were worried about people at home doing breathholds and blacking out. I know I was doing statics on the couch whenever they would breathhold on the show. hehe.

My fiance and I watched it and she freaked out because she knows I freedive. I had to explain to her that I dont see how far I can go down for the hell of it, I just go down to shoot fish. Then she got jelious of how hot Tayna was and thought I was going to leave her for some other hot freediving chick... I told her I would only leave her if she looked like that and was a spearo.
I didnt agree with her telling that dude to ignore the pain either... one of the first things you learn in diving is how to clear and if you cant clear COME UP. By the way has anyone tried spearfishing with a mono fin? My buddy on the swim team had one and you could go REALLY fast. If you were hunting pelagics I bet it would be awsome swimming along like a marine mammal.

The mono fin just seems like it would be to restrictive.I have never used the dolphin kick so it would be very unnatural to me.

LOL! How long did you have to rub your cheek after that comment? Regarding the pain thing, what she and others like her do is pretty different than the freediving we do for spearfishing. From what I understand, these competitive freedive types need to get down to depth ASAP to get the most out of their air supply. Some freedivers use alternative ways, such as "wet clearing", to get by the problem (e.g., Pipin). I agree with you though, for what I do, I abort a freedive descent if my ears start hurting. Once I feel pain, I almost never can get my ears to clear.

The show was pretty well done, I thought.
There are many aspects of competitive freediving that can be implemented into spearfish-freediving.
Take the PFD course if you can, you will not regret it.
