Another Freediver lost!

On Saturday, July 27th, 2013 a freediver was lost at Beaver Lake.

Michael, aka OutdoorCatholic, from Omaha, Nebraska was freediving/spearfishing at Beaver Lake, Arkansas and apparently failed to surface from a dive.

Recovery efforts have been underway since yesterday but have been unsuccessful so far due to a murky layer of sediment near the bottom.

We don't know all of the circumstances yet, but another sad day!

Les

That is so horrible. I had a lot of respect for him. Full of fresh water knowledge and just a good guy. RIP OC. You'll be missed.

So sad never met him but enjoyed all his posts, I wanted to tell him after my dive on Sat that he was right you do see more fish aspetto diving. God bless him and his family. Would like to eventually hear and learn from the details of what happened, he seemed like a very safe diver. Everyone be careful out there , this is a dangerous sport.

Oh my... I have only been active on this board for a short time but really liked him for his straightforwardness and attitude. Prayers for his family and friends.

Re: Another Freediver lost!

I have been lurking here for a long time. Signed up for an account a few months ago. Hate that this is my first post, but I am absolutely stunned. I always opened Michael's posts. Always level headed and the voice of reason. And always promoting safety. I think he's one of the guys I would have liked in person.

RIP.
