I wonder if they found it rigged for any particular activity. If it was clean empty, it might have just floated away from shore or be the result of vandalism/theft.

Earlier this year my brother borrowed my kayak, lost it due to bad knots will he was down for 15 min on SCUBA off the KH breakwall at midnight. A PB turned it in two day later after towing in in from 6 miles out. I hope the same type of scenario is the case here. Donny

I forgot to tie off my paddle last spring. Hopped in the water, came back an hour later...amd found no paddle. My buddy who was smarter than me that day found it drifting about 100 yards away
