The water here is so clear it makes it look shallower than it really is. The water depth we were using the float line in was around 40ft. We were just messing around with the float line to see how it worked.

That is one of the crosses the Andros divers have to bear, along with gin clear water, the normally FAC seas and screaming .05 knot normal maximum current.

It's REALLY easy to get too deep for the air you're carrying in those conditions if wearing a power snorkel. Its just as clear and bright at 200' as it is in 50'.

That float line and buoy system will work great spearing bull mahi on the range buoys. I never could get a line on a sling shaft that worked half as well.

I have been meaning to mention the southern buoy or also called 1-2 buoy broke off about 2monbths ago and the northern one is going to be removed in the next couple months. They should be replacing the southern buoy in the next couple months though.

I am an advocate of using floatlines. It is safer, reduces the risk of losing your spear, and if rigged properly has little to no effect on spear performance. I have need kings and yellow jacks shot in 40 feet swim off with the spear. They are a pain but worth using..... My.02
