Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

Well It goes like this, I had this light for 10 years, got it when i first purchased all of my gear. It had been with me on several hundred dives. The trigger mechanism snapped off in my hand after changing the batteries and regular maintenance. I went to the LDS and bought a new light and sent my old light out for the lifetime warranty. I have heard from others (with first hand experience) that Princeton Tec will replace or fix your light for lifetime. So I expected the get my light fixed or replaced.

Today with the mail I received my new light light, It also came with a hand written note directed to me. Someone actually took the time to scratch a personalized note to me when it could have easily been a printed template response. I think that kind of service is over and beyond.

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

I agree about Princeton Tech being very good with warranty. Underwater Kinetics also advertises a "limited lifetime warranty" however after numerous phone calls to their customer service and discussions with their top level manager (who claims to be master of his domain" whatever that means), I find that UW Kinetics WILL NOT HONOR their warranty.

I have a light that the spring battery contacts broke, The light was never flooded and was hardly used. After numerous calls I find that, they only have a 30-day warranty on the bulb. The boss says that anything that caries electricty to the bulb is part of the bulb and therefore is only warranted for 30-days, This is total crap in my opinion.

They also say that if they discontinue a model and they have no parts then they will not repair it, will not replace it with another model and will not give you credit toward purrchase of a newer model.

I was actually amazed at the response to my compaints to the customer service representatives of this company.

I recommend that everyone avoid Underwater Kinetics if possible. Why not just buy a Prinecton Tech, and if it fails they WILL honor their warranty.

I encourage everyone to call customer service at underwater kinetics to inquire about their "limited lifetime warranty".

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

I had the opposite experiance with UK my light flooded and I recived a complete rebuild kit in the mail in less than a week. This kit included a new triggger, new lense, a bunch of H absorbent pelllets, new reflector and bulbs, and battery contacts. I didn't even buy it from a LDS so I figured I was SOL. I couldn't be happier with my experiance wiith them.

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

uk said they may honor warranty if they still have the parts but once they stop making the part, your "lifetime warranty" is worth nothing. Check it out give them a call.

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

jfjfjf,

I can't comprehend how you are dealing with UK. I have been a UK dealer for over 15 years and they have never disappointed me even once. They have replaced a lot of lights without once refusing to fix or replace the item, 99% without any charge. Bulbs are, of course, not covered under the warranty. If you are having problems with your light, take it to your dive shop and get them to replace it for you.

I do agree with the Princeton experience all of you have. Princeton is a great company and so is UK.

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

So I should tell a dive shop that I have confirned with the manufacturer that they will NOT honor the written warranty, will not fix repair or replace the light and then I should expect the dive shop to give me a replacement light? Give me some more details on how that will work?

Re: Princeton Tec Lights Rock!

Why not take it to a shop that's a PT dealer, hand it to them & see where they get with it? Without telling them of your past efforts.
