I saw some pics from guy who mount a small flashlight to the ends of there guns. I guess to see into holes and such. Is this a good practice? I haven't done it but I would try it. What's the best light to use and is there a mount made for an SS Teak Commercial?

The mount you are referring to is called the "quiver shaft speed loader" made by Chad Carney out of Tampa . There are several models in which you can hold 1-2 free shafts or line shafts and a Mini Q40 light (by Underwater Kinetics). I have had the opportunity to test them out and it seems to work quite well. The spare shaft holder has no thumb screws or moving parts. Having a light mounted on your gun or not is a matter of personal prefference, the environment in which you are hunting, and the species of fish you plan to go after.
Most people like to keep their guns simple and void of any unnecessary hardware to keep them maneuverable and quick to reload. I mostly freeshaft but when i do have a line on my gun I have found that the light does not slow down my reloading time or interfere with the line when fired. Also, there hasnt been a noticeable difference in maneuverability as the light is mounted almost flush with the gun.
The light is used when hunting in and around wrecks, and when looking for grouper under ledges and in holes. So if you are after AJ's or palaegics it's of little help.
Its definitely not a "must have," but if you hunt wrecks or areas where the holes go way back where you cant see, then it is helpful. Ive gotten some real nice blacks that were deep under ledges that i wouldnt have seen otherwise.

Spear-One, Is there a way to mount a light on the commercial and still keep my lineshaft capability?Would that one work because of the sinking line?-Chris
