Another Big Jax Gag
This was from 8/19.Had just seen RobertD,Rumbo Jax and crew at the Drydock and I was not having a productive trip.Ran to some small bottom a few miles away and were those guys good luck.Got this guy in 145',got a few #6+ bugs from the same hole and saw 2 of his buddies.Trip produced mutton to #17,genuines to #20,a #20 scamp on hook'n'line and these visitors during deco.

Re: Another Big Jax Gag
Damn, if you are going to go to the trouble of loading your gun, at least you could shoot a big one.

Re: Another Big Jax Gag
Weighed on the boat rocking, the lowest reading on my Shimano POS scale was #43.He was 49" overall and as you can see..fat.I'll call him a 40#er with no shame.
I went down on a small craggly piece of bottom that was about 3' high by 200 yds,no real ledge.I saw these big bastards just skirt away a little and noticed that a big puff of silt had come up maybe 30' away.I figured one had holed up.As I got there i could see the hole was slanted and could not get a shot.He was visible from above thru a crack and it was a spine shot so I took it. Had to use my spare shaft to hold his gills shut and took a few minutes to wiggle his ass out.Saw the bugs getting curious and spent a few minutes grabbing them. This time of year is very kind to me,last year got a #44(on Nick's digital scale) on Diving Seagull's (Stacy)boat less than 5 miles away.

Nice fish and great story to go with it. The bugs were a huge bonus.
