Humbolt (Not the Squid)?

Hey Guys,

Heading up to Humbolt Co. to try and scrape some big abs and maybe find a nice Ling or two. I'm going up on friday night w/ a friend and camping for the weekend. I'm wondering if anyone has any spots there willing to share. The cleaner the water the better, and the swell projector is 8-10'(while it's still way too early to tell) so fairly protected.

I'm leaning towards Shelter Cove, Cape Mendecino, and/or USAL beach (still Mendecino Co.?). Are these the spots to hit? Is Cape Mendecino clean and accessable? Is it worth it do drive further North?

Also is the best vis. up North normally in the Salt Park S.P. area?

Abalone diving in Humbolt is awesome, But be careful because there are many many white sharks there. I have personally heard stories from friends who live up in Humbolt.
