Screw Wilma - I'm Back

Sorry, I been off the board for a while. I had a few difficulties with a majority of my shingles ripped off by the tail end of Wilma, no power, no water, sewage coming up in the streets, roof leaking. Lines for gas in excess of 5 hrs, lines for water, lines to get into Publix, and Cerfews its been a hell of a week. I'm at my Dads house now, he has power. Only room in the house that didn't leak was my shed where I keep all my tools and Dive equipment. I had a wall and a triple sliding glass doors bowing in from the wind so sever I thought the house was coming down. Rain was pouring in around the frame of the window.

Things are coming back together, finally. I spent Wednesday on the roof trying to put plastic up just in case it rains anyday now.

So who's been catching anything good?

Great to hear you're ok.

Re: Screw Wilma - I'm Back

John very sorry to hear about your trouble with Wilma. If you need anything please do not hesitate to call or Pm me on the board. Mandy and I crossed our fingers and rode the storm out sans any shutters. We were lucky not to loose a window and suffer any more damage other than the falling of a VERY large tree in our front yard. Five feet in any direction and I would have two very expensive paper weights in exchange for the cars we parked in our driveway. BTW we have our power back and the gas lines here that were 3 hrs and longer just a few days ago are gone. It seems fthat olks are stocked up now and just doing their normal topping off when needed. If you want I could drive some up to you in cans if the lines there are still as frustrating as they where just a couple days ago here. Let me know..BTW how did Speedy fair?...called him a few times but I have not received a call back or word from him and Patty

Hang in there. As long as we have a positive attitude and keep moving forward we will win out in the end.

Good to see you guys are ok. My grandma's roof is gone (delray beach) and my parent's house still has no power. My mom says that if I was home I would have to go hunt for the family and provide food for the pack!

Re: Screw Wilma - I'm Back

Hey I am still around, we still do not have power, I am at my parents house right now, they just got it back yesterday. My padio on the back of my house got moved to the back side of my yard and crumbled up like a soda can. Went out twice during the storm and tried to screw it back down to the concrete. Had a really big palm tree in my back yard, it almost fell on me, while I was drilling the padio, but it did get my powerlines going to my house and ripped the weather head off of my house. So I had to replace thatbefore they came around to hook up power again, otherwise I'd have to pull permits and all. One of the times I saw my neighbors holding their windows shut, cause their boards blew off. Soooo, got the drill, found the boards, and we reattached them, took four of us. Fun fun fun! It was like diving in a really strong current. But anyhow, if anyone needs some visqueen, I have a big roll of industrial stuff. Don't know when I'll get on here again, so you'll have to call me. cell phone is 954 624 5540

Re: Screw Wilma - I'm Back

Love to help Angelo, but the wind blew my plastic off the roof today(obviously I don't know what I'm doing), it was the windest day of the year! I'm on the list for Core of Engineers Operation Blue Roof. Hope it doesn't rain. Got to go to work tomorrow, I checked work today at noon and the building still did not have power. My house still no power, no generator, got water a couple of days ago and the sewage problem has disappeared.I'm staying at dad's house now, piggybacking the neighbors web connection.

Speedy's Status- last I heard Speedy has a roof leak but did not loose his trailer, he lost part of his carport but what trailer didn't, he also indicated that the T-top was messed up on the "USS Minnow".

Re: Screw Wilma - I'm Back

Their still telling me I'm on the bottom of the list for power, around the 15th. Atleast I moved my truck or it would be under an oak tree, and my boat is ok. After a while eating out of a cooler, cooking with a propane torch, and taking cold showers isn't all that bad. Were all better off than my Dad and friends in Louisiana.

Re: Screw Wilma - I'm Back

Today marks the 8th day and still no power. As of this morning, 77.6% of Miami-Dade County had power restored, but not in my neighborhood. Still waiting...

Same here Rolo. Seems like the whole county is up and running except us. It's getting old quick. Your house OK? Did your yard get destroyed again?
