Fort Lauderdale Beach Report
Just a quick update before I head off to work. Dove with my buddy craig and
El Cid from spearboard and his buddy Drew from El Cid. Drew and I were on a bit of a tight schedule but figured the drive down to Fort Lauderdale was our best bet since the boat Craig and I normally use in Boynton had its props being worked on. Hit lauderdale at our old regular spot about noon and were out of the water by two. Moderate to slight current from south and vis ranged from I'd guess twenty feet to about 50 on the bottom. Overall very fun and relatively fishy feeling to me. On one of the first lines of reef found a couple heads just loaded with twenty plus bugs, but after pulling five shorts gave up on them. I picked up a decent little 16 inch hog and craig got a red grouper from this same region. Basically made our way quickly out to the second reef and picked up another small hog and a cero on the way. Saw several other ceros, a couple of which were fat. Lots of small hogs in the shallow rocky areas could have been taken. With three fish I was waiting for something more substantle to elicit a shot from my gun. Oh, I did stone a mutton in the sand but donated him to some triggers b/c he was a bit short. Second reef the vis opened up beautifully on the bottom but by the time we were there we only had a few minutes to check it out before starting the mile swim in. I could have stayed out for hours had I had more time. After being sick for nearly two weeks and out of the water for almost twice that, I didn't mind a three hour round trip for two hours in the water! Good to meet some new guys from the spearboard as well. -Brent |

Re: Fort Lauderdale Beach Report
BAB,
I couldn't leave my house until 945 and had to be home by 345...coming from psl that doesn't give much time out on the boat. All my limbs are still intact fortunately....I remember hearing about a guy who had his finger bit in half by a lobster but I think he got it back. |
