PV report and a lesson learned

went out around the peninsula yesterday for a few hours to find deteriorating visibility, and some decent wind chop. From the surface, conditions didn't seem that bad. Probably up to 10 ft on the surface, but it quickly dropped down to a few feet any deeper than that.

We arrived at our spot, I jumped in and and swam about 10ft to the closest kelp to load my gun. As I'm loading the first band, I see a very legal WSB hanging around the kelp strand about 8 ft down. I figured I had 2 choices, go for shot with one band loaded or try to get the 2nd band loaded without spooking the fish. I opted for choice B and as soon as I reached for the 2nd band the fish slowly made it's way out of my sight and into the gloom. Damnit!! I figured since it was such a good start I would see many more, but it turned out that was the only fish I saw.

From now on I'm definately loading my gun as soon as I hop in the water!!

Oh absolutely. There no feeling more helpless than starting a hunt with an unloaded gun and seeing the (fill in the blank) of your life saunter away while you're trying to load up.

I shot at a yellow tail with only one band loaded, and the shooting line tangled in the second band and stoped the shaft. So maybe you made the right choice.

Re: PV report and a lesson learned

Last time I went out I had a small WSB lined up right after I loaded my gun and I moved my gun into position and then I noticed that I had forgot to my last band off the Daye tab. DOH!
