This looks even more badass than the console model. Is there a downside to a boat that doesnt look that high in the water? The amount of space that this one has would be very nice!

Re: Twin Vee cat boat

Some people have complained that the gunnels are too low. I really like them but I think that kevlacats are better platforms if you would like to trailer it. Anyone know why the prices on them (TV) have gone through the roof the past two years? They have doubled.

One of the big price drivers is cost of resin...OIL...to be more specific...

I have heard two things about cats....
1 they are awesome in rough water
2 they are fuel hogs....due to pushing two thin and deep v hulls through the water....

Dont kill me, just heard these two things from a few owners...never rode in one..

Re: Twin Vee cat boat

Cats rule. I don't care what Spearchucker says about the speed of Cats (about the only thing he says about boats I disagree with). Marisa Ds Baha Cat goes 40 mph fully loaded (16-20 tanks, ice and 200 gallons) in calm seas, 30 mph in 2-4, 25 mph in 4-5.. that's plenty for me. Bloodyshaft has alot of experience on a 26 twin vee and has nothing but praise for it. Another guy I know has a Glacier Bay cat, and everyone says it REAAAAL comfy, but it's a slower boat. I know Marisa Ds boat isn't 'great' on gas, but not worse than most. You'd have to ask Bloodyshaft about the Twin Vee he rides on. They do handle rough seas great.

Re: Twin Vee cat boat

Mono hulls over 32 ft, kill cats for the most part. I know mine does and I'm not bragging, just stating facts. In smaller boats around 25ft, I'd say cats outride mono-hulls. I have rode on numerous cats and have always hated the way the threw me around the boat, were wetter than hell, and for the most part beat my ass. However, I am very picky about what I call a good ride though. I constantly bitch about needing a bigger boat, seriously, ask anyone who has ever been on my boat in shitty conditions. I hate beating people up and never feel like the ride is good enough.

Re: Twin Vee cat boat

I've started to think that trailerability of cats may be an issue; Anybody know what the weight of a cat is compared to a mono of the same length? A guy I know has a 26 foot ProKat (maybe 28) and he has to tow it with a 1 ton pickup. I'd hate to have to buy a bigger truck just to pull the boat.

"The Big Red Killing Machine", 20 tanks, 4 divers, (or 6 tanks and compressor and 5 divers), 300lbs. of ice, tons of room, go anywhere, never run out of gas, never worry about storms, set a tank on the deck in 3' seas and it never falls over, manuverability out the ass, need I say more. 32' Twinn Vee. Survived Katrina and Rita.

Re: Twin Vee cat boat

My 26' Twin Vee Hawaiin Fisherman model hull weighs 2800# naked and dry.
The low gunnel height is by self bailing by design. Totally swamped theory is power up and hull will self bail as you pull away. Hull only will hold X number gallons of water weight but has X plus bouyancy from foam inflation. Low gunnel is great as a dive boat. Easy in and out, low reach to the water.
I have ridden on Pro Cats, World Cats, Glacier Bays and Kevlacats and they all have their points.
The Twin Vee's are the lightest and most confidence inspiring in rough stuff (6ft by my defination) because they don't do anything strange, ever. Stand by the helm and let go of the wheel and it never bites and changes track. Never. It holds a true course in any sea direction. But big ocean swells aren't my friend.
If you want a hull that is unafected by load this is it. Carry 6 divers and 18 tanks and you are down on speed only 2-3 mph from empty and light. And it just doesn't change the ride quality.
Before I rigged my hull, open deck space was 8' by 12'. That's huge on a 26' hull. Put a tape measure in the cockpit of one of these and you would think you were in a 35' hull. No kidding, they are that wide open in their design.
Easy to load and trailer. I tow with a 1/2 ton pick up. All that's needed.
Go for a test ride on a real snotty day. Sometimes we have to come back in nasty stuff, but no body ever make us head offshore in it. It's nice to be able to have a good day offshore on the marginal days.
So what V hull can I compare this to? For starters I owned a 28' Delta with a 420 hp inboard diesel for quite a few years and it's a great hull. But I wouldn't want to feed it gas or trailer it. And the cat is faster and rides better on a day when you want to chain the weatherman to the bow pulpit because he got it wrong..
