Glen, you forgot your camera. Ben, has it. David, I never found your second flip flop. Most of blown overboard during our fast return to port. You guys were great and made it an easy trip. Looking forward to seening you aboard again another day. My memorable event. Mark Z and I dove some cheezy bottom. Mr. Gag about 10# was waitng on the bottom for Mark. He shot the gag and lost the gag. We couldn't find any holes or cracks for Mr. Gag to be hiding in. We con't. the hunt. We swam chumming the water. We both turned around about the same time. The bigger brother gag had been following our chum slick. I shot the about 20# gag in the gill plate. He took off swimming up and down the water column. Then bouncing off the bottom. I just finished loading a second shaft in the gun. He came off and I fired for the head. The shaft ran out of steam and dropped to the bottom. Spent 10 min. circling around and looking with no results. Started heading up and saw a shaft on the bottom that looked brand new. Thought Mark had lost a shaft. On the way up, noticed it was a Ray Odor Riffe shaft. Later on the boat, David said my shaft had a curve to it from the gag I lost. So, I have a a new straight shaft for a Riffe gun to trade for a new straight long floppper Biller shaft. Like the old saying: The sea taketh and the sea giveth or someting like that.

All I can say is what a trip. Anybody looking to get the Middlegrounds experience needs to hook up with these guys. They have got the spots!
Definitely worth the drive from Orlando to get a little "off the chain" shaftin'. Thanks guys. I can't wait to do it again. Dave |

Actually I can't take full credit for that gag. I was swimmin along about to shoot a mango when it zipped off so I turned around to see the big gag lookin right at me. Needless to say I waited for him to turn and let a shaft fly. He ended up shakin the shaft and shot up above the ledge. I pursued. When I got to the whole he swam towards I see none other than Jim aiming down in the whole. He finished him off. I swam in and grabbed the fish outa the hole while jim got his string ready to string him up. So needless to say it was more of a team work effort..... |

Re: a few photo's, HS charter, June 29
My trip report.
Well, all in all it was a great trip. I had a great time and can't wait to go out on the HS again. The sea's were not bad by any means maybe 2-3's at the worst with a very occasional 4 thrown in on Saturday night. Water temp was very confortable. Oh, and shark wise I saw one silohouette of a shark out a 100' or so but he left w/o any trouble. I myself had a very good trip fish wise my final tallies being. 16 Mangos 8 Grouper 3 Triggers 3 ARS 3 Hogs 11lbs 9lbs 6lbs and 1 Team effort gag of around 15-20#'s or so. Only bad thing was the 2 hrs it took me to fillet, label, and bag all the damn fish!! Oh and I almost forgot I owe my shooting to ...Ken Jones' "DEATHSTICK"!! Heres a few pics. Marshall
Looks like you had a good trip. It is the shooter not the gun that put fish in the box. As Kmoose woud say: "It ain't the gun you shoot Brother, It's the man dropping ya on the rock and the finger pullin the trigger" |

I agree it takes a good shooter too, but w/o the unreal accuracy of your gun and range some of my fish would have never been shot. I mean hell I shot one of the red grouper that was running away from me outside of the 20' mark with a SINGLE band (now thats a gun with some real range and accuracy). You make ONE HELL OF A GUN! |
