Fishkilla needs a trusted AC repair guy

i need someone who can work on the old style R12 refrigerant air conditioners. ( i have a faithful 1992 chevy s-10) i'm sure one of you guys knows someone i can trust in the tampa bay area. please list a phone number so i can enjoy florida the way God intended... through the window of an air conditioned truck.

honor amoung thieves . do it your self conversion kit to 134a. not that hard . not thinking . is it out of freon? or other problem. if you convert you do need to install new drier and pull vacum on system. checked my list of thieves I mean friends dont have any in that area. But I will help if you want try doing it yourself. Just yell.

my compressor is leaking. ( i found the spot where it is coming out of it by spraying some soapy water on it) what i want to do is replace the compressor and have someone do the vacuum and recharge work. i don't know if that is possible. it would be nice to do the switch to 134 since i already have my dash out but i don't know how much that is going to cost vs. just replacing compressor.

Around atlanta conversons cost about 100-150 dollars. how bad is it leaking. ? get converted then add when needed. just dont say any thing about leak. If you get new comp. go ahead and get system converted. R-12 is verrrrrrry expensive. 134a is about 5.00 can at auto zone takes about 3 cans to charge system. hope this helps.

if your compressor is leaking at the seal by the clutch but is fine otherwise you may be able to [depending on what brand of compressor] replace that seal after removing the clutch .I would definately go with switching to R-134A .If you can find R-12 expect to pay for it .the last I bought was $60 a pound and that was 5 years ago . At my shop we change everything over to R-134a .

Careful fishbait, some of us professional tech's may take that to heart. People may not like to pay for care repairs, but sometimes they have no choice, parts are exspensive, labor, overhead, Insurance are all very exspensive. I dont know much about atlanta but down here thieves are usually weeded out pretty quick, I can only speak for New car dealers, never worked in the aftermarket sector, Ben Give me a call I will help you. 863 640 0339

Guys FYI later I use the 416A freon as a direct replacement for R12 systems. It's got lower pressures than 134A and you dont have to change nothing. I've had it in my old parts chaser for a year now and it works great.
