East Cape Spearing
Anyone ever go spearing out of Rancho Leanardo? From the pictures, it looks like you can launch off the beach.

Re: East Cape Spearing
I was down there in June.
Pathetic time of the year for spearing inshore. I hear rancho leonero is good though. I was about 1 mile north of them and all I was seeing was the typical reef fish along with cownose rays, eagle rays, mobula, and the occasional rooster fish. I hear that if you swim out to where the boat moorings are at leonero there are lots of pargo. I fished there by kayak and it was WFO on HUGE triggerfish. I wanted to spear there but never got around to it while down there. Offshore we would find HUGE baitballs with large fish charging through them. The pangadero claimed they were huge mullet but these were like 4-5'. Im sure if I had been spearing I could have pulled something off them. If you are planning an east cape spearing trip, Go to la paz and dive Cerralvo and El Bajo... |
