New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

I highly recommend the brand new Cressi EDY freediving/watch/dive computer. You can check it out at http://cressi.it/intro.php?lang=us&...to=325&m=scheda. I just got one and love it. You can lock it in freedive mode or use it for scubadiving Air/nitrox or put it in gage mode. It has alarms and also doubles as a normal watch. It is well built and looks very nice. The backlight is wonderful as well. The sampling rate is every second and it logs all of your dives. Check it out and if you interested pm me and I will tell you how to get it for about the same price as the D3.
The battery is supposed to last way longer in this then the D3 as well. Cressi makes great gear and is built in Italy. This watch does everything the D3 or Mosquito do and looks about a hundred times better.

AHHH That looks sleek. The links are not working for me, but the small picture is. Thanks for sharing. Is it available in US stores? And if so, how much?

Re: New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

It's available here. I think it retails for around 450-500. It is actually a TWO GAS Adv. Nitrox computer and a freediving computer. I think one of the coolest things about it is that it does 1 second sampling, instead of 10-15-30 seconds sampling like most computers. It's also very small.

The downside is that it is pretty conservative, and I don't like wrist computers b/c I stick my hands inside some pretty deep gnarly caves catching bugs.

Conservative from a freediving point of view compared to the D3? Or do you mean as a scuba diving computer? Is the alarm louder than the D3 ?

Conservative as a scuba diving computer. I have no experience with the freedive function.

It's basically the same as a dive rite duo/cressi archimedes II (same comp) and both of those computers are quite conservative IMO.

Re: New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

Todd I don't sell them. My LDS does and I just really like the watch, thought I would pass it on to my fellow Spearos. Yes I posted this in the California site since I am from there, and here for everyone. I think it is cool that another company besides Suunto has recognized us freedivers. The D3 was great but those of use who scuba and freedive this is way better. Also the blue or yellow plasticy look of the D3 is not near as appealing if you wanna wear just one watch. The D3 looks like the watch I wore when I was 9 this one looks much more professional in a suit! If I wear it all the time then I never forget it!!

Re: New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

Pilot,
Just pulling your leg. I agree the cressi watch looks pretty nice and if you scuba it's value prop (cost and dive computer) is going to be stronger than a D3.
Take care,
Todd

Re: New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

due to having more options (for air and nitrox) is it more complicated to use just for freediving?

Re: New Freediving Watch from Cressi!!

Pilotspear: I am very much interested in obtaining a Cressi Edy. I have an idea where to get one at a reasonable price (Scubastore?), but if you tell me where I could get one at a better price even, of course that would be much appreciated! Also, is its battery user-replaceable, or does it have to be done professionally at some manufacturer-approved store?

Thanks,

Di Au
