So many Yellowtail signs............

I took SASK out this morning on the trusty little Whaler out of Dana Point around 6:30. We ran about 13 miles south, just past San Onofre to a big kelp bed.
On the way SASK was telling me how much fun he had last night with his G-Friend, drinking tons of beer and red wine, etc.
Well, 15 seconds into the dive and he starts chumming the water.
This was no ordinary chum, he was launching, and turning colors.
The vis. was so bad, I could see maybe 5 feet, so we pulled anchor and headed home.
I was so excited to get in the water today, there were Yellowtail Beacons everywhere,(birds) with big bait/smelt hitting the surface all over the place. But the vis was sooooo bad.
The water was at least 72 degrees, with 1 foot/10 second swells.

All the crazy Tuna fishing 100 miles into Mexico has shutdown and is finally moving north towards S.C.I. The big Yellows are out there just waiting for my steel. Lets go get-um!

San O...

I was out sponging (boogie boarding) just south of the power plant this morning and noticed how nasty the water was. The waves were awesome for boarding, but I knew spearing would suck,as I had trouble just seeing my fins while sitting on the board. The water was pretty nasty, with dirty/chunky foam. Guess that was the SASK remnants!!! See you guys at tomorrow's OCHUNTER meeting.

today was not a good day for the Sask... the g'friend leaves for a week (spearfishing nationals), the vis sucked and i yakked in the water.... could it get any worse? thank you kyle for taking me out today... i would rather have a crappy day out spearfishing then having to work anyday. i will hopefully see you all tommorrow night.
