BBQ Lobster

I cooked up my 2 bugs from yesterday and thought that I would share the recipe with you guys.

First thing that I did is that I split the bugs down the middle and rinsed out the guts so that only the meat was left in the shells. Since I caught the bugs the day before I dryed them off with a paper towel and put them in a large dish, then I put ice in a ziplock bag and placed that over the meat side of the bugs. Make sure that the meat is totally covered. When I was ready to cook, I got my BBQ ready. Then I put olive oil over the meat and a mix of finely chopped herbs (rosemary, thyme, cilantro, garlic, jalapeņo). When the BBQ is nice and hot (medium heat, I use an old school weber and I peg the temp at a three count. Meaning that I can hold my hand a couple inches above the grill for 3 seconds), I put the bugs one the grill (meat side up) for 5 minutes. Then I flip the bugs and let them cook for 3 minutes and do one final flip back to meat side up for a final 2 minutes. It should be noted that I only cook up the smaller (legal) bugs, I prefer the taste. If I have a group of people over then I leave the meat in the shell for presentation. Tonight it was just my girlfriend and I, so I took the meat out of the shell. I top off the cooked lobster with chopped cilantro. Here are some pics of the final product.

In case you guys want to do a nice side dish, tonight I chose to cook some ravioli's in a butter, sage, mushroom sauce. I cook the raviolis according to the package directions. While the raviolis are cooking I melt half a stick of butter and throw in sage (1/4 cup) and sliced mushrooms (1 cup). When the butter is starting to bubble and the mushrooms are getting cooked, I put the raviolis in the sauce and cook them until they are golden brown.

Good question...you want the real answer? She said that it was time to do laundry and give both dogs a bath. HA HA. We've been together for 6 years and living together for 2. I cook dinner every night, it is the way I de-stress from work.

Re: BBQ Lobster

Ha Ha, So do I. I told my girlfriend, if the recipes calls for seafoods or BBQ. I cook them, if it's another recipe, she cooks, In fact it benefit me more because she lets me dive more knowing I have to cook them so she can get off the cooking duties! Ahh, more diving days, more de-stressing!

Re: BBQ Lobster

I did not realize that there was enough meat in the heads to worry about, but from your pictures it looks like there is something edible in there.

Me either. We always just twist 'em and que 'em.
Looks alot like too much work to me! (much like cleaning someone's hull bottom for a free trip to Catalina!)
