new to the board
Hey everyone, I am new to this board my name is Jeff and I just wanted to say "hey". I am not new to spearfishing, freediving and scuba. I never really devoted much time to improving my spearfishing prowess and usually seemed to always get lucky when I would go I would always come home with a decent catch nothing trophy sized but usually a few meals worth. This past holiday season I received a new gun for Christmas from my girlfriend I had always been saying I wanted another gun and she surprised me with a RIFFE competition 2XS. Which has re sparked my spearfishing itch I consider myself a novice at knowledge of gun makers but I really like the feel and power of this gun. What upgrades would any of you recommend for this gun? It is standard with a threaded double wing tip instead of the single hawaiian flapper shaft. I mainly do beach dives locally in the OC area from San O to Newport. I also do quite a bit of kayak diving as well. What type of maintenance should I perform on a regular basis on the gun aside from a freshwater rinse after each use? how often should I oil the stock and what other key areas should I hit with oil from time to time? Thanks in advance for any advice given.
Thanks, Jeff |

for gun upgrades I'm sure people will chime in shortly, I don't use wooden guns too much

Welcome Jeff! Jay Riffe sell a nice little kit with two oils in it. One is for reconditioning as I recall and the other is for maintenance. Using that teak oil is a good thing and it wil keep the gun shining. Good luck!

Re: new to the board
ah, unfortunately I'm going to be moving my shop into a new warehouse next weekend so I probably won't be there, but most likely if there's a next one I will be
