Shore Dive Siesta Key - Point of Rocks

I have to take my daughter to a beach volleyball tounament tomorrow on Siesta Key. I seem to remember free diving Point of Rocks when I was in high school (a long time ago).

Does anyone have any info and directions?

Thanks. Bob

Thanks for the thread. A "simple search" of point of rocks was not that simple.

Easier to ask the question.

Re: Shore Dive Siesta Key - Point of Rocks

The water clarity has been OK, but they are pumping the beach just South of there. It should be OK to shore dive, but it may be a little murky. With this warm, calm weather, we should be having good vis this week. There really is no parking near there, maybe park at Crescent Market and walk across. Or park at Turtle Beach and walk about a mile North down the beach. Point O Rocks reef is just South of Point O Rocks, which is 1/4 mile South of Stickney Point Road and Beach Rd. It starts about 200 feet offshore. It covers about 3-5 acres. There is also some reef in front of P-O-R. Steve.

LOL There's my mom's house on point crisp rd

Fun diving at the end of point o rocks road on that point, then the reef off the next point.

Re: Shore Dive Siesta Key - Point of Rocks

i was there sunday...winds were really light in the morning and conditions were great, untill around 2 than the sea breeze came in and everything turned bad...but the little bit of time i did have was good, water didnt feel bad at all to me but i was using a beastly thick suit, viz wasnt that good but it was do-able i would say about 8-10...when i first got in the pompano and jacks were everywhere and even some good size mackeral were making passes...i eneded up with 5 big sheepies though but i was still happy. but even on a average day, there were ALOT of people there, so just imagine a good day there...i wouldnt want to even bother with it.
