Bug pre-hunting.
Hey everyone. A few friends and myself went out last night to some local reefs in search of some lobster. We launched about 9 pm and and went up to south Laguna Area. We tried freediving to spot them but we didnt see anything in the 10-25 foot range. We donned the scuba gear and dropped to about 70 foot. Thermocline went from 69.5 at surface to 53 at 55 feet. The bugs we spotted were all around 35-40 feet deep with temp. of 61-63 deg. It seemed with one flash of the light they would spook and back down in a hole. They are very skitish this time of year.
Can't wait till midnight on the 27th. I also found 2 weight belts near each other. Both have about 25-30 of weights. Scary. Im glad there was no dead body attatched to either weight belt. We will be diving again tonight at another cove in Laguna, from shore. Talk to you all laters. Kyle

The Viz
Planning on doing some pre-opening day staking out, my buddy and I drove the coast from Old Marineland to north of Port Hueneme, (10:00 am to 6:00 pm), and there wasn't one place that was divable. Red tide so bad the water looked like coffee. Hope this crap leaves by the 27th!
