Billfish sighting!

While doing a safety stop on the Thunderbolt. I saw my first Sailfish underwater. Three of them about four feet long. Makes the stop much more fun.

We dove teh Thunderbolt many times and about all I every saw was the standard stuff you see on wrecks.
How was the current? I've been on it when it was ripping, and when it's been dead calm.

Been seeing tons of ballayhoo here on my safety stops, but no sailfish or other pelagics.

Quite a sight, isn't it? I've seen sailfish twice and marlins twice also....always awesome. Some guys invited me to go to Costa Rica, where it's legal to spear them, but I have mixed feelings about it. There's something about billfish, kind of majestic or something. Have you seen the short movie at IGFA (Fishing Museum) in Ft. Lauderdale? They have a really great scene of some guys catching a marlin. Cool museum if you ever come up this way.

Kite, I was out today, off Boca. You're right, those ballyhoo are all over the place! We got some hogs, couple nice muttons, got chased by a hammerhead a little bit. How about you?

Sheri:

Got 8 lobster Friday morning, but no fish. Saturday was a nonevent from a fishing/spearfishing perspective. This morning got 4 lobster and saw 4 hogs 14" to 17" feeding together in the sand but didn't bother with my Riffe (too much trouble - would have enjoyed the quick fire-reload practice if I had had my SS freeshaft gun). All the lobster and hogs were 80' or deeper.

Museum is great! As I recall you just became an IGFA member shortly before we met.

Are we going to see you next weekend at the Southern Open?
