The answer is...YES. It is necessary to catch fish to eat if you just paid $100 to go fishing at the island. Say rockfish is $4.99 a pound for fillets- that equals 20 lb of fillets to do the job. So, any mix of calico bass, rockfish, sheephead would be about equal pricewise. Most people fish for food & fun, and aren't out trophy hunting. So, in effect, killing fish is fun, and yes, it is necessary to kill fish to have fun on the water.

Re: Holy Cow

I agree with Rojo, but it realy bugs when they keep like 11 inch fish rock fish or 12 inch calis or 11 inch whitefish ive seen them fill bags with truely baby fish then they help fill each others fish bags illegal.and when i see bocacio floating dead all over the surface from bing hauled up from too deep, and other fish thats fcked up.They wont even take time to release the air bladder. These boats need to make there own rules for fisherman and stop letting them keep the babies.

Mackfish,

I am with you. I keep a needle for the small rock fish on my boat. that way I can deflat them if they are to small.

those numbers are f-cked up. Definetly overfishing in my book, even if it's not as bad as commercial

Re: Holy Cow

There is also the waist issue.. im not in the fish industry, but I also deal with product that spoils... So these guys that take this many fish.. its essentially a years supply.. how much will be thrown away? and then like mentioned they take the 10" rockfish and take little baby filets off.. damn. These rockfish limits should be based on what a person can consume in a months time... otherwise, no more rockfish..

Re: Holy Cow

Guys,

there were almost 500 anglers fishing for those counts, that is not over -fishing

Small fish die when you bring them up from 200, you either throw them to the seguls or you keep it.

I have mastered the art of farming small fish down below and only catch the big ones

Now back to the good information................

THE WSB ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
