Gene Higa Mem. Tourn.

The guys at Hana Pa'a are handing out the applications if you're interested. Also, I was wondering if anyone did this last year and if they could give a brief description. I thought I would sign up but I am far from good at spearing. I've only been 3 times where I've actually shot fish. The Hana Pa'a guys said it was real laid back and that it was more of a "picnic" than an actual tournament. I just don't want to embarrass myself or my partner. Which, I'm sure will be the case regardless. I'm more interested in meeting new spearos to dive with than actually catching fish. So, any heads up on what to expect would be appreciated.

Just go and have a good time. There is no embarrassment in not getting any fish because even the best spearos come home empty all the time.

Dude, everyone sucked at one time or another. Hell, I STILL suck. Besides, everyone else will be too busy worrying about embarassing themselves rather than trying to bag on you for doing crappy... give it a shot, bro.

If you look at the results for most tournaments, a good percentage of the divers come home empty handed. and besides, it's all about being in the right place at the right time. you might find that one big fish that everyone swam right over. I say go for it!
