Boaters Safety: Inertia is a bitch

So, I got this good friend who needs to learn how to handle a boat in a confused following sea or atleast slow down! Anybody got any suggestions? Maybe we can sign him up for one of those power squadron classes with the little kids .
Heck, he didn't even shoot any fish . Other than give me a physics lesson in kinematics, from what I heard, he just spent most of the day upside down snorkeling around in the bilge for some strange reason, while I was diving.

Seriously though, be careful out there guys, and if you have been trying to call me, I'm alright and working in the clinic until five.

RULE #1 IN BOATERS SAFETY!

Hang on! Do not attempt to rise from your seat and free-stand while approaching an inlet in a heavy following sea; this could result in bodily injury. If you must rise from your seat, notify the boat captain and inform him to slow the vessel before jumping around!

I just heard that when the captain says go down and kill fish and you come up empty handed dont back talk him or he might catch you with an upper cut

the problem is that the boat captain was trying to pose for the ska cover shot. Jaws he isnt used to motors that run on all cylinders, or boats that dont have 100gallons of water in them

Re: Boaters Safety: Inertia is a bitch

What do you do when this captain can't slow down because he can't remove his hands from the wheel, because he just approached the shoal like the final lap of a formula one race sans the throttleman?

According to a self proclaimed expert I spoke with, the act of going from a seated postion to a flying comet is not related to standing or jumping, but a different activity known as the stern to bow facial massage. If you get lucky, it even comes with a bonus hair coloring, but the only choice available is red.

Re: Boaters Safety: Inertia is a bitch

sounds to me like you need a new friend!?
then again, I have seen alot of boat operators in desperate need of safety classe prior to operating a boat! I have even mentioned to my local DNR that their should be a mandatory course of some sort for boaters safety, for ALL watercraft. Yes, I did say ALL! I also own a jet ski, which I am refering to mainly about safety, the conversation with the DNR officer.

I personally know three ido(cough) people, that have been seriously injured on those freakin things. There damned well should be a required class. They rent them right off the beach and run them around in the surf; quite often near the heads of children. Is there no law against stupid shit like that?

Re: Boaters Safety: Inertia is a bitch

Jason's problem came from a captain thinking he was in the opening scene of "miami vice" movie approaching the inlet while his crew was peacefully resting uaware of the speed and sea conditions.

i do think that the said captain should report to a mandatory boating seminar for some much needed instruction, or at least hire a throttleman next time. that said capt sure is one motorboatin' sob though

Oh Jason. I'm laughing my ass off. When you coming back home? Are you off for the summer. I'm looking at putting some dives together and would like to see how you and John work out. I think you both would make a fun Team!
PM me sometime, Joe.
