4/22 Murrells Inlet Report

So, as it turns out, planning a dive trip on your birthday is a bad idea...the wife and kids have some sort of party planned.

Anyway, Mike (divedog28) brought his boat down and we were joined by Mike (mallen) and an anonymous fisherman (Ronnie) for a fairly quick trip out.

I was real concerned about the viz, considering the 20' seas only a week ago. Although it was not totally stirred up, I wouldn't have wasted time bringing a camera. Viz was a solid but murky 20' - actually great for shooting. Water temps also cooled off to a little below 70, as you can see, the seas were cooperative.

We ended up with a hog, a few grouper and a couple bugs...

Viz was real nice on the surface. The shit layer in 100' seemed to be from, maybe 60 - 80', then opened up at the bottom. Still stirred up, though, that's for sure.

Oh, Allen, you know you're jealous of my shirt. Now, if I could get a $5 for every time I put my picture on the internet wearing that shirt...nah, nobody wants to see my ugly mug that much.

You ever tried to eat one of these biscuits out of the fridge?

Impossible without either warming it up or drinking A LOT!

That's when you know that they used the correct amount of lard in the recipe.

Chris,

Thanks again for the trip.
Atleast I finally got wet and did manage to shoot my first grouper.
Barely legal but legal.

Don't sell yourself short - you shot a fish in less than ideal conditions.

and, you brought fish/lobster home for momma - that's usually worth something special around my house.

Nice bugs dude. Some day I'll forgive you for ditching me on your birthday. I hope they sang songs to you all day long.

Oh, they sang...

My 8 year old made me a card and put $3 in it. He made it clear that he didn't give me all he had, but half. That seemed fair.

That's stuff you can't replace.
