Bush's Greatest Monument Yet To His Imperialistic Self

I'm sure many have heard of the new "embassy" being built in Iraq. This is a superb piece with many details you should find exciting. What a wonderful thing to be able to provide such a facility for our future hardworking staff there. If one is assigned the task of ruling a foreign people, the least we can do is provide them a facility that reflects the great glory of the homeland. I can just see the hoards of workers standing at attention and saluting in the courtyards His Imperial Majesty, George W. Hitler, I'm sorry, I meant Adolf W. Bush, I'm sorry, I meant His Royal Highness, King George W. Bush. How long are the people of this country going to put up with this, 1,000 years?

Well, at least he is complaining about Bush while he is still President. Some of you guys still babble about Clinton some 7 years after he left office.

And bgbill likes to invoke Kennedy driving off the bridge (wasn't that in the 60s) when the opportunity presents itself.

Kennedy is just great fun. We're going to chase that scumbag into his grave with reminders of that bridge

I would rather go Hunting with DICK Cheney than go for a ride in Ted Kennedy's car.

Re: Bush's Greatest Monument Yet To His Imperialistic Self

No doubt, there's plenty to criticise Bush for. But when I see things like claims of 1000 years, comparisons to Hitler, yadda yadda yadda, you just lose me.

Back when Clinton was still in there were people running around claiming that he'd never leave. Was going to suspend the constitution & elections & just stay in office. Detention camps were not only possible but were actually being built. One was claimed in the county I lived in. I looked for it, damned thing didn't exist. But I was told as a fact that people were already being put there.

Bunch of bull shit. Same as the more hysterical crap I hear now. there's going to be party primaries this winter & a general election the november after. Bush will leave office in january 2009 & the next one will be sworn in & we'll all get on with praising or bitching about that one, same as we've always done.

And very, very little to praise him for.

Wayward, He has not yet equaled Adolf in his endeavors, but objectively he has certainly taken steps down the fascist road. Please see previous post :

and read the link and tell me which of the 10 items is untrue.

I'm not aware that Bill Clinton ever built any, but there is no doubt George has. Although most of their capacity may be used for supposed terrorists, there is no doubt he has detained American citizens and, without authority , suspended their rights to habeas corpus.

Up until the point that bitching will no longer be allowed. I think the Democrats are probably closer to making this a reality, along with John McCain, than the Republicans. However, it won't matter who did it after the fact. If I sound hysterical, it's quite possibly because I am. If the "R" was not beside this record big spending, nation building, world policing, constitution trashing, imperialistic piece of %#@!, I'm quite sure even most of the 25 % that supposedly still like him would trash him as well. I apologize Wayward, but I see no redeeming features in this man whatsoever.

Re: Bush's Greatest Monument Yet To His Imperialistic Self

I agree with you on many things, but I just can't get too paniced over this stuff any more. I used to think that constitutional principals could be saved & have pretty much given up on that. Now it seems that the real questions are how long will the rest of the ride take & what turns & twists will there be along the way.

And for the record, I'd almost rather be a Clinton intern than to ride with Ted Kennedy. I wish they would all buy Cheney a twelve pack and go bird hunting. And George Bush is still a tyrant. Out of everybody in the discussion, I must say Cheney may be the best of the bunch, at least he shot a lawyer.

For the record, I think I agree with you on almost everything, except I honestly think that you and the majority of my Republican friends severely underestimate the damage that W. has done to our Republic. It is one thing for Democrats to downplay their "broad interpretation" of things like the general welfare clause and then trample the constitutional concept of limitations on the federal government, but I guess in my heart of hearts I still hold Republicans to a higher standard which makes his activities all the worse. Clinton, in my opinion, held himself above the law with his activities, which was an incredibly arrogant position to take. Bush, on the other hand, seems to hold the constitution in disdain and has totally blurred the concept of separation of powers. (with the help of his big government republican cronies in the legislative branch)

Quote:

On the one hand, you are a wise man for not worrying about things we can't change. On the other hand, our (collectively) not getting panicked has lead to this over reaching leviathan we now call our government.

I don't know how much longer this ride will take, but I think not long. There aren't any turns or twists, it's just a straight path to hell. Just watching the Republican debates provided ample evidence, as 8 1/2 out of 10 candidates offered support for torture and 9 out of 10 thought our involvement in Iraq is perfectly o.k. and we must "stay the course". (we just need to do it a bit differently, a better "plan", if you will) The only encouragement I have is the fact that Ron Paul won one debate poll and finished second in the other, but I believe that is probably due to the fact that his supporters are like me, rabid.
Simultaneously, the others have no sincere support because it is emotionally impossible to get excited about a "Mitt" or Rudy.

Looks like the architectural firm got in a bit of trouble for posting those computer renderings on the internet.
