Today was the first day of my two week vacation in the keys. Will (Hat-Nasty), my dad, and I all got here today and headed offshore to see if we could get some dolphin. No luck with the dolphin. We did catch a nice Barracuda that put up a good fight for Will.

For the afternoon trip we decided to head out for some shallow free diving just to warm up and practice. This was my first try at free diving and I really enjoyed it. I am very excited for my Performance Free diving Clinic now so that I can spend more time at the bottom. It seemed every time I was I was lying on the bottom and getting ready to head to the surface all the fish would show up. Will did really well. He got a nice Cero Mackerel and two decent hogfish. Got back in after dark so the pictures aren’t the best.

Will and I traded off with the camera and the speargun. Will not only got all of the fish, but he also took almost all of the good pictures.

Warning - freediving in the Keys can become very addictive!

A little bird told me the Mangos have just show up in numbers on the patch reefs in that area, so keep your eyes out for them.

We kept our eyes open and found Mangos all over the Gulf and the Atlantic Reef. I think the biggest of the trip was close to 18 inches.
