8-13-07 Cedar key Report...Once you come in.... you never go back outside again....

Well had a great crew, Jared (ocalaboy), Ryan (floatnstalk), kolt (kjflyfish), Chris (will get a screen name soon) and myself for a freedive only day.

Seas were better than advertised, don't think we ever saw 2 ft and it calmed to near flat as the day went on. Calm seas, sunny sunny skies, and a light wind to keep us cool, current was moderate to nill....

We ventured out to some grounds we have been scouting in only 30 foot of water, and found 20 foot vis and plenty of targets.... We really never found a need to venture out any deeper so we didn't, the vis droped to 10 foot as the day went on...

Slay report:

10 Gags to 33 inches
1 Red 24"
3 spanish
4 hogs (ryan shot a nice ishore hog 18" to the fork)
1 trigger
6 mangos

It was really good to meet some fellow board members for the fist time and would love to have yall back anytime. A good buch of freedivers. Kolt, pork and beans may be good and all but next time don't leave that stuff in my truck!! PS-can you post any of that video? Also good luck in your new job and mabe we can kill a few more fish before you move on the other side of the planet... good luck to you there if I don't see you agian. Ryan...your coast or mine would love to dive anytime. You know you are really hooked on this sport when you will travel all the way across the state and back to kill some fish!! Chris if you reading this, don't worry you will be getting a call from me about once a week bro... good diving with you.

Re: 8-13-07 Cedar key Report...Once you come in.... you never go back outside again..

Ryan told me that he used a terential thunderstorm as an excuss to his wife to allow him to clean his fish inside and he said it worked out great.... well here is a few pointers on how to keep the wife happy... cause once you come inside you never go back out!!!

Sprinkly a little water on the counter so that the 1st layer of paper sticks to the tops and does not slide around...

Newspaper works awesome.... clean newspaper is what I use when I don't have any newspaper around.

(NOTE: you do not want to put newspaper directly on conters because if the paper gets wet the ink will bleed onto your conters and it is a pain to clean off, use a layer of paper with no ink on the bottom)

Clean a fish, toss the head in the trash back that you have in the cooler and then wrap up the wet newspaper and start over with a clean sheet. WIth newspaper you can just stack the paper up with as many sheets as fish you have to clean plus 5 sheets as a base.

Since you do not even open up the stomach cavity and and are not using anywater at all there is no mess or smell.

I like to fillet all at once, and then skin all at once...

When you are done just wrap up your ball of paper and nothing more to clean....you are left with a sack of fillets to wash and bag!
