Smile ...The Season of Lobster....PIX

Time: Midnight-5am
Date: Saturday, September 29
Location: Somewhere in Catalina

So went out on my buddy's boat (xahx). with a few buddies, including Brian Dreiling. Made it out to catalina at 8:30pm and waited until midnight. LONG LONG wait, we got super restless.

Anyways...I thought there would be ALOT more lobster, but there is less than on the coast, but they're not as afraid of a flash light, which was pretty nice.

Stayed in the water so long that the Pelican Nemo 8C kept bugging out. Nearing the 4th hour of diving, on my way back to the boat, I see this huge outline in the darkness swimming away from me, I thought "HEY night WSB!"...but it wasnt. It ended up being a +/- 6foot soupfin shark that got pissed off at me for shining a flashlight in its face. This thing was bigger than me EASILY. So it does a hardcore 180 on me and looks up at me aiming its head at me. So I back peddle scraping my fins across its face. then it backs down circling me for at least 8 circles, each time it circles, it tries to get closer.

At this time, I look up for 1 second trying to see if anyone can come by and help me, but I'm 100+ yards away from the boat and I'm the only person in the water. Eventually it bolted off into the darkness after a minute or two.

I didnt panic, but was none the less freaked out by the ordeal. So I made it back to the boat and everyone asks "what do we do now?" and I just say "HOME!!!! IM NOT DIVNG ANYMORE TODAY!!!"
So we made it back...slept from 7am-3pm.

Brian Dreiling got the Jackpot Lobster, 7lbs 2oz. GOOD JOB BUDDY!!
I got my limit after a long long morning.
