Concept ZR (Zero Recoil) - Some like um Fat!!

So Brian Koprinik emails me early on this summer to see if I was interested in building a custom gun for him, one specifically for cruising inshore kelp beds. What he was describing to me didn't fit what I currently have in my gun lineup. He wanted an enclosed track mid-handle gun, a relatively short and maneuverable 54 inch stock with a lot of mass and power. He told me "he likes um wide". He also wanted an inline band pull using a stainless Kitto style muzzle. Also, a bottom line drop if I could implement one. He had gotten a couple of guns a few weeks earlier from Tom Mitzlaf which were amazing looking guns and were extra wide as well. After seeing those guns I got a good idea of what he was talking about when he said "wide".

Well I felt a little reluctant at first since I knew it was going to be a lot of work and I knew my summer was already going be a busy one with a couple of events to attend and the summer rush of speargun orders. This was a tall order. But this gun piqued my interest since I've never built such a short and stalky gun before. I was also wanting to get one of my bottom line release concepts on an actual gun. I took on the challenge and asked Brian to be patient with me as I started another gun design from scratch.

So I juggled it in between other guns, carefully figuring out how I was gonna build it. Three months later this is what I ended up with. I really appreciate Brian letting me take my time on this one. Big THANK YOU MAN!!! I kept telling him "I don't wanna effitup". It came together nicely. He hasn't gotten the gun yet, its in the mail first thing in the morning. But I'm sure drop he’ll drop his jaw when he sees this thing.

By the way, are guns female or male? I think in this case its a girl, no doubt. Bye bye my baby girl. Oh well, another one I grew to love only to send away to make some other guy happy… LOL… I’m starting to feel like a speargun pimp.

SHE weighs about 10.25 pounds without shaft. With a short shaft it will literally have no recoil, hence the title “Concept ZR”. She measures 54.5 inches long, has an enclosed track with forward UHMW track reinforcement, shoots a 5/16 shaft, winged stainless muzzle that is perfectly align with the shaft, my trigger, and an Alexander aluminum handle. Stock is vacuum laminated teak, ten laminations in all. A bit over the top but at least I know this gun will never warp. Last but not least a stainless steel, automatic resetting bottom line release that uses a co-axial pushrod system. Pretty nifty!! A new design, I won't elaborate.

i think a quote from Deuce Bigalow will fit perfectly here......

THAT'S A HUUUUUGE B*TCH

i think really big guns end up looking sorta fat and slow sometimes.....but that thing looks really sweet! very streamlined and sharp!

NICE JOB!

There is a similar gun made here in Texas by a local guy who builds a 44" gun with awsome range. The 44" gun was able to pack on mass by adding wings which didn't hurt the horizontal swing too much. That gun would do 20-30' shots with some power on a 5/16's shaft.

So do we have your blessing to ask for duplicates of this gun, or is she really "all yours"?
