shaft size?

hey maybe this is a dumb question but whatever, i have a Cressi SL Star 70 Speargun (28'') i am trying to order extra parts but dont know what size of shaft to order, are they universal or what. i know the length but not what diameter i need. also i wanted to use the tahitian flopper, my buddy has one on his gun, is that a tip part of the shaft or a screw on tip? is that the best tip? any info much appreciated

Re: shaft size?

Standard shaft diameter is 8 mm for those, fitted with a screw on tip, 7 mm thread. A smaller diameter shaft will still need a line slide stop ring of the same outer diameter to centralize the shaft in the muzzle when loaded. You could probably go down to a 7 mm diameter, but the taper on the Cressi spear tails is slightly different to the Mares, so you need to check if you want to try using Mares Cyrano spears which have a Tahitian option.

Re: shaft size?

It is a whole new spear. On some Cyrano guns you got one of each with the gun as one shaft had a traditional screw on tip. There are after market suppliers that provide different shafts including spring stainless steel versions. The spear tails screw off, so the tail ends can be changed over to use the correct taper for the gun's piston.
