Thanks guys. Be careful

I just read something that reminded me just how much our firefighters are risking. Twelve guys on a ridge above Santiago Canyon Road in Orange County got over run by the fire and had to deploy their individual shelters and let it burn over them.

I guess they're OK, but that sounds hairy as hell to me.

Re: Nano54 and deckhandmike, be safe fighting the fires..

We do "burn over" drills every year but I've never had to deploy my shelter thank god! we practice deploying behind a airboat at full throttle to try to make it as real as possible.

I hope those ff are ok.

All you CA spearos who's family are displaced and your homes in danger you are in my thoughts and prayers

Re: Nano54 and deckhandmike, be safe fighting the fires..

Hey thanks guys for the support for your local firefighters. San Luis Obispo County already has 110 firefighters down fighting the fires. I got the call to cover Thurs and Fri but I just made it to the final round of testing for Harbor Patrol Officer and the last interview and test is on Thurs. It's down to three guys and there only taking one so I have my fingers crossed. My fire department was understanding and they got someone to cover for me. I really have to take my hat off too those tough brush guys out there they are animals! Good luck guys and gals.

Re: Nano54 and deckhandmike, be safe fighting the fires..

Thanks for the support guys. I've been at work on the fires for the last two days and just got released to come home for a few hours tonight. Back to work tomorrow morning. I've been working in the Rancho Bernardo area mostly, and the devastation is staggering. We'll see what the next few days bring. Best wishes to those who lost their homes. More details later....gotta get some sleep.
