Kyle is Not the Bad-Guy Here......

I will go on record for Kyle. I have been out with him and do know for a fact that he is not a rampant fish killer. We were "FREEDIVING" when Kyle, Rick-Dawg, and I went out. Kyle knows the ocean and dude was spotting kelp paddies while Rick and I were standing there with our fingers in our noses! Kyle has let many fish go and doesn't just kill everything he comes across. In fact, there are many people I know have gone out with Kyle and can vouch for him.

As for everyone who is popping off about him, check all the Fishkilla videos on this website. I don't want to start a Tupac-Biggie (East vs. West Coast thang), but a lot of those hogfish aren't being stalked, in fact some swim right up to the gun before being taken. My point......this is a spearfishing website! Fish can/will die, and we will post photos/stories accordingly since the bragging rights issue is promoted heavily on this site (ie. biggest fish, photo gallery, etc)

Many of us pride ourselves on the ability to be able to provide for ourselves and our families should the pre-packaged meats stop arriving in the grocery stores. I know for a fact that Kyle eats what he catches (I hate using the word "kills"). Fact is a sheepshead is edible. Should Kyle "accidentally break the law" (he knows now that the season is closed) that is on the DFG for not advertising the new regs and ensuring everybody knows what is current. Hoping that someone comes across the new regs on their website is really on them.

Like I've said in other posts, California DFG should copy Hawaii, if they are going to keep changing the regs. The DFG book does state that you must keep "the book" with you and follow those guidelines, but it is an annual book. In Hawaii, the books are published monthly to address any changes and specifically state you must have the current month's regs with you.

I am an ocean man. I swim in it, I play in it, I hunt in it, and I respect it. While I am not condoning any illegal actions (my 9 years as a Deputy proves that) I do think that everyone should familiarize themselves with all the facts before they start posting publicly, their opinions. When East coasters start posting about our rules, and our people, without knowing the full facts, it only creates animosity.

Perhaps, we should use this anger, and the time it takes to post comments about others, to shoot off emails to the DFG asking for a monthly, or bi-monthly publication. As long as DFG is going to be instilling these new regs according to various reports or studies, they need to inform the public through more than their website. Like I said, I pride myself on being law abiding, and I did not learn of the sheep head closing until I read it on this board.

Let's unite and not fight, and if we must fight, focus on those that have created the incident!!!

Whoa there...I don't think anyone is necessarily calling Kyle a "bad guy". There was only one post in the Sheepshead thread that can be construed that way, but the guy used a conditional statement, i.e., "if Kyle...". Admittedly, I don't agree with the tone of that certain post. Kyle's been a great contributor to this board, and I hope he keeps it up.

I need another box of Kleenex. Sniff Sniff. You're the best Stod. My email box is full everyday from people flaming me. I have seen the single page that explains in detail that the Sheephead are out of season. It only took me a few tries at the DFG.CA WS. The California DFG has received a letter(snail mail) and an extrememly urgent email from me explaining the matters of fact, or "amendments to the standard rules", that they suck.

Anywhoo, back to the Sheephead. He ended up at 38.8 lbs. frozen. So, last week I had a possible record sheephead, and a 680$ fine. The DFG rep. that was present at the time of weigh-in was in process of writing the ticket up. This was in Dana Point Embarcadero Marina. They have a scale callibrated for record fishes. I was told sheephead were out of season, and the fine is 680$. I asked the nice DFG gentleman to show me in writting that they are out of season, in the book that I held in my hand. He did not even attempt to produce the info. I was sent away, without my fish. He left the area with all of my personal info, including all of my boat info.

I do feel ok about posting exact details about the fish. I didn't these past few days. According to the DFG/CA I am off the hook, for now. I also think I could win this battle in court if needed. DFG.CA.ORG is my home page now.

Peace out everyone. Be safe. Be nice to the DFG.

It's not that I'm taking the internet too seriously, I am just sticking up for a friend. I would hope others would do the same if you knew they were drawing wrong conclusions. If you go back to the post, you can read how the tone is changing as the posts go on. The fact Kyle is getting numerous emails as well proves that.

They took your fish????????

DFG

Pretty much water hessians. If its out of season they need to be explicit on the laws. Your ticket should have reference to a code. Look it up and challenge the citation. Just a thought.

Sounds like the wardens down here in LA, no ticket, just a warning, but take your deer, ducks, or fish anyway. Stick it to the man Kyle!!

What's the e-mail address that is used to get in touch with DFG? I'm sure that people would be more likely to send in their "suggestions" about this matter if it was posted on this thread. If all of the California spearos on this site sent in even just one e-mail..............

I do not think kyle is an idiot. It appears that he did not take the grandpa but took a smaller one and may have the record anyway. I believe that the whole thing with the DFG is a bunch of bull.. In my experience a large portion of the wardens out there dont know the regs that hey are enforcing. Thankfully no ticket was issued. If the DFG is going to change the rules they need to make it very odvious that they have been changed. Just posting on an obscure website is not enough. Nice work kyle, I would go hunting with you anytime.
