As far as I know and have been told, you do not want a slip tip for halibut or any reef fish. A flopper would be more practical because you will need to sharpen it regularly from all rocks you are going to stone. I don't think you want a slip tip until you are targeting larger fish in open water, but I'm a newbie too so what do I know.

For that gun you should just use the flopper shaft that it comes with. From what I understand slip tips aren't really ment for euro guns.

Dont get a slip tip for your caymen. How big is your caymen? Get good with just using the flopper, and mainly target on halibut, calico bass, and sheeps head/ goats. Dont spend 60-90 bucks on a slip tip that you will shoot at a calico miss the shoot and jam your tip into rocks.

Good luck,
Eytan

Re: Tip for omer cayman hf

I shoot a slip tip at halibut. Funny, all I ever hit when I shoot at them is fish and sand... Never hit a rock after passing through a hali. Never seen them lay on rocks either, they like to bed in the sand.

Shoot the flopper until you shoot something too big for it. When you risk bending the shaft from the fight with the fish, then it's time for a slip tip.
