I love to hunt.... it doesn't matter what I'm hunting. I probably enjoy deer hunting in Nebraska and Georgia the most but it's hard to beat a good day of pheasant hunting behind a couple of german shorthairs.
I'd really like to start hunting in Florida but I haven't been able to find anyone to go with or does it with much success. So, until I do I'll continue to go out of state. If I knew how to post photo's I'd through a few up but I haven't figured it out yet. Last edited by Merk; 12-05-2002 at 10:17 PM. |

I'm one of those weird guys that doesn't hunt but trains his dogs to do so. We have 3 Vizslas and the youngest one just finished his junior hunter title. The instincts dogs are born with are amazing! I've been thinking of learning to shoot simply so I CAN go with him once he's gun-trained.
I've been to a couple of GSP field trials and see them a lot at most events. Beautiful dogs, most of them with a BIG range. Man, can they run! For hunting in Florida, I understand that Duette Park in Bradenton permits quail hunting. Never been, don't know the details. I HAVE been to Circle C hunt club in Mascotte and they've got a nice setup. You can hunt quail and I believe you can make arrangements for pheasant if you want. They're even renovating a few houses for rental purposes in the future. |

f94gator,
I hear you about the dogs. I hate to bird hunt without a few dogs to do the dirty work. Nothing like shooting over dogs that point the brids for you. They are my brothers and they are one hell of a hunting dog. They work great for pheasant in thick cover or heavy setaside since they have long legs. They are hunting machines. I have shot a lot of quail but usually while hunting pheasant. I have to admit I have a hard time hunting clubs and released pheasants since I've been hunting wild birds my whole life. Same thing with dear although I do go to a private hunt club in Georgia. I guess it's no different then spearfishing which usually costs at least $100 when you factor in gas, oil, ice and tank fills. I'm running out of time but I think I'll try to squeeze one more trip to GA before I start dreaming about next season. Shoot'em up Last edited by Merk; 12-06-2002 at 09:07 PM. |
