Would you buy a 90cm speargun or a 110cm gun fr the Reefs in Florida keys and east coast?

I have a 110cm railgun that is perfect for the reefs. 90cm is bit short in my opinion. I would say a 120cm railgun is the best size, though.

However, the 120 is probably the best all around gun. Great for reefs and some bluewater stuff. I hope to get mine soon... P.S. I've gone hunting the past two Saturday's and have just missed some nice Macs with a 110 gun. I think I may have landed them if a particular spearboard member would finally finalyze the order for my Carbon Apex Rabitech 120!!!!!!!! |

It hasn't been finalized? Let me know what is going on with it.

I'm not doing any bluewater hunting...Just patch reefs and stuff. Is the 90 better for holes?

Gun 4U
Spearboy1,
It looks like you may just be starting off spearfishing. If so, I'd go with a 48" AB Biller. It's not too expensive and it's a good starter gun. Or you can always get a Rob Allen 110 with 2 16mm bands if you can load it. I personally would not have a 90cm gun as a primary gun (at least in Florida). The 110 size or 48" may be a more diverse sized gun for your needs. However, although you are not planning any bluewater hunting, remember that Big fish come into the reefs on occasion. Especially in these winter months the Kings will come rather close to the coast and I personally would rather have a gun a bit bigger than 90cm to have a shot at one of these beuties. Finally, if all your're interested in is shooting hogs. Then just buy a pole spear. These fish just beg to be shot and more often than not you can literally touch them with the tip of your shaft. |
