Re: Just ordered me a new wetsuit at diveskin.net

I've had one for three seasons now and it's time is up. I've been shopping for a new suit for a wile now and I have to say that I will be reordering another one this weekend.

I've tried on JBL, Riffe, Spetton, Picasso, Beuchat, Yasbeck, Hammerhead, Deep Thought, you name it, there all cut the same. If you go custom locally your looking to spend $500.00. Thats 2.5 times as much. So back to Diveskin I go. I just wish they had a choice in materials, I would prefer Yamamoto rubber 39 or 45.

Wet suits are what I consider terminal gear, in fact everything in spearfishing is terminal gear except for the guns. 200 bucks for a custom suit that will last two years is the best deal out there by far. Every other suit out the is way more expensive and doesn't fit right. Those of you that fit in to suits off the rack don't know how lucky you are. So go pay your $350 for your neon day-glow suits, I'm going Greek until someone around here makes suits that fits real men.

I have trouble myself. The best solution is to have a buddy zip it, but if there isn't a buddy around, I finally figured out a method. I just attach a piece of cord to the zipper pull and grab it with my left hand to start. That lets me stick my right arm straight out but I'm pulling on the cord at mid-chest rather than reaching across to the zipper pull.

Then when I get it zipped across my chest and want to get it out the left arm, I move my hand holding the cord out to the left side so that its pulling the zipper toward it.

Its harder to explain than to do, but it works pretty well, and it only took me about 5 years to figure it out.

Bill, I love my JmJ wetsuit for scuba diving, but there is nothing like a freediving wet suit.

Also just to let you know JMJ has a new style of Freediving wetsuits. Mikelb just ordered one so I am very interested it how it looks and fits..

Why is a JMJ Predator not a freediving wet suit? I'm not sure what makes a suit a freediving suit anyway.

Is it on their web site? I'll check.

Re: Just ordered me a new wetsuit at diveskin.net

I just looked at the website, and apparently the new model isn't shown yet. But for what its worth, the glideskin Predator is grouped under "Freedive" in the price list.

freediving suit usually doesn't have zippers and is open cell.

The new Riffe suit has some sort of coating to make it easier to get on. Does that mean its not a freediving suit? If so, a lot of freedivers don't know any better, because they seem to be popular.

It's still open cell with coating or not.

the major difference is a nylon liner in most surf and scuba marketed suits.
all these new "freedive" suits that have a titanium or termic coating on them still fall under the open cell category because it is a very fine coating that helps ease of entry yet is still supposed to out perform a nylon lined suit.
