Laguna Report 2/15

Off-shore wind with a bit of surge. Water was freezing but viz was a solid 15-20ft. Lots of fish out, blacksmiths schooling in great numbers, big sandies out in the open. Saw a nice cabezon in the shallow. The guy was too cute to spear. It looked just like a big blue gray puppy.

Re: Laguna Report 2/15

Just came back with a nice 17inch calico here in Laguna. It really was surgy, but with nice visibility. But oh man I had the chance to catch a 20+ calico. I even shot the thing but as soon as I had it my one leg cramped up. It had to happen right when I was seconds away from pulling in the biggest calico I had ever seen. Well I gave the fish plenty of time to get away as I was bobby on the surface in pain. If it hadn't of dashed back into a cave I coulda still pulled it to the surface. I kinda feel bad for letting it go with a hole in its side... But still it was a great day for spearfishing! Plenty of nice sized sargo, sandbass, calico and clear waters
