55 Jarrah Slayer
Did some work on the 55 today.
The shape of the handles that I carved out really works well if the butt of the gun is thinner than the rest of the stock, plus it gets the hand closer to the shaft. You can see how I cut a 1/2" deep section off the bottom behind the handle. The butt is back to full height, simply to keep the trigger long enough for a good connection with the pushrod. I decided to keep the band slot nice and simple. I'm still trying to decide whether to go with a Heinrich-style release or just install the self-setting line release - I'll probably stick with the Heinrich.

Re: 55 Jarrah Slayer
Here it is after I added a sexy compound taper.
I still have to install the remote trigger system - I should have done that before I did all this work, but I couldn't help myself. After that comes the roundover, final sanding and finish work.

Re: 55 Jarrah Slayer
You are on to something there, I love the taper and the rear relief.
That gun should end up looking absolutely beautiful. Sleek but powerful.

Ah, just messing with ya! I still can't figure out where you are going to get all the salt - I know you wouldn't try to ballast and balance guns in freshwater.
