I've noticed a lot of confusion, thought I'd clear things up.

Now, people seem to be confused by all the "dive reports". Due to spearfishermens secrative nature there seems to be a lot of trickery and doublespeak. I thought I would put out a handy chart with some easy translations for the new folk. Feel free to add if desired.

There were no fish out there=I saw a White Sea Bass so large I tried to lassoe it with kelp and ride it into shore. Stay the hell out of my kelp beds. Might also mean that there were no fish out there. But probably not.
There were tons of fish out there=The reef looked like a Carrot Top Comedy show. Nothing out there. In other words, Dive here, while I shoot fish elsewhere.
I saw a White Sea Bass=I dont even know what a White Sea Bass looks like, and even if I did I sure wouldnt tell you where it is. Go dive in San Elijo Lagoon.
I shot a Toad of a WSB off of.......ponto lagoon=I shot it on the back side of Catalina. Go dive Ponto
The Red Tide is here= by that I mean I want to dive La Jolla with as little competition as possible, so stay home and fiddle with your gear
there are big sharks in the area=The fish are hitting it. Probably. Could also mean that there is a Big Ass Shark in the area. Interpret it as you will, but dont come whining to me when you get your bad self chomped on by whitey.
The Vis was Horrible=The Vis was fantastic. Kinda. Dunno, is the ability to see the butstock of your gun fantastic?
the Vis was Great!=The Vis was so bad it wasnt even funny. Swim with your hands in front of your face cause you are going to swim into something. Probably a greatwhite shark.
Prime Halibut time is now=It was two weeks ago, while you are searching the sand I'll be shooting white sea bass. Could also mean that prime halibut time is now.
White Sea Bass Love Bannanas=C'mon moron, what do you think this means? White sea bass are scientificallly proven to love bannanas, stick 'em down your wetsuit, rub them over your gun, leave a few in your dive bag for a couple of weeks to really put the flavor that the fish love into your gear!

god I'm so bored. I need to go shoot some fish. Anyone feel like diving in SD?

I'd go, but I hear that there's no fish and low vis, plus with the red tide and big sharks in the lj area it's probably just safer not to dive down there... I saw tons of fish over by the children's pool though.

Lets see...acording to the chart....no fish, low vis, red tide, big sharks...childres pool is going off supposedly...Shit. the chart is useless. I need a better way to get info out of people.

wonder if waterboarding would work with freedivers?

I'm so glad you cleared all that up! I was getting so mixed up by my own reports, I start believing the lies. Or were they lies?? one thing's for certain: you gotta go to know.

Oh ya, one other thing: wsb really do love bananas.

thanks again for the clarification.

I vote to keep John Hughes out of the water, that way the WSB popuation will increase again and I will have a better chance on shoting one... LOL..
