Fin review C4 Mustangs vs. Seahunter49 blades

For the past year or so, I've been using C4 Mustang 30 fins and liked them very much, except that I had to stretch the footpockets to fit my goofy feet. I bought a pair of Seahunter49's blades a while back and put them in a pair of Omer footpockets I already had from my old plastic millennium fins.

I have had Seahunter's blades as my backup pair and never really gave them a chance before last week. Simply put, I like them better than the C4's. I found myself diving deeper and getting up easier. They are also much cheaper, and tougher.

I know Dan can ruffle feathers, and I haven't always seen eye to eye with him, but I gotta say, I'm very happy with the fins.

I also have a pair of Dan's fiberglass blades and love them. The only other fins I have tried were the Riffes, and they sucked. They were way too soft for anything. If you were a child or maybe a smaller girl with not a lot of leg strength they might be ok. I got the #3 fins and put them into Riffe pockets and they are awesome.

These are Dan's Blades aka Pargo?
How are they for surf kicking? I heard the lack of an angle hurts the ankles something fierce, is this true?

Thanks guys.

I have the #3's and don't have any problem with long surface swims against current.

Yes they are, but I believe he changed his name to seahunter49, because he was very popular and didn’t like the publicity he was getting..I think he started getting chased around by paparazzi..

He was very well liked....HA HA HA HA

LOL, yep I was in need of fins and even though Pargo had them for cheap, I refused to buy them from him. I'd rather spend the extra money and get them from somewhere else.

20fathoms has the edge blades which have the angle to them and those are even better than the straight waterways blades that Seahunter49 (Pargo, Pargo Amargo, Dan, whatever his name is...) sells.

Hey Dan, soon as I can justify the expense to to the wife I will definitely be getting a pair. Your powerheads are well made and well stored in the Dan "nifty neoprene pouch." Looking forward to getting those fins.

I'll also echo Chad's sentiment concerning the blades. They've certainly been an upgrade from my previous ones. The price was fantastic and the exchange even smoother. Dan is real easy to deal with and is always willing to go the extra mile for those that purchase items from him, including these blades.

Re: Fin review C4 Mustangs vs. Seahunter49 blades

Thanks for the good reviews Chad, Fishfighter, sk84pj and Rolo, it means something to me on a personal level. The blades really speak for themselves and I had nothing to do with their development, although there is something to be said for making an effort to promote a good product. Chad, I was wondering why you didn't say anything about them as it's been a few months. I figured you didn't like them but then what's not to like. Anyways it's all in the correct stiffness and the right footpocket. I'm glad they will serve you well.

These blades are from the same manufacturer that 20 fathoms buys their Matrix blades from. I get pms asking me for information so here's a link to a thread where I tried to cover everything http://spearboard.com/showthread.php?t=60544

Re: Fin review C4 Mustangs vs. Seahunter49 blades

I ordered a pair of #3's last month and a freind will be bringing it down for me soon.I have read great reveiws on it and if it performs as well as my 'Ice' blades I would be more than satisified. The problem with my 'Ice' blades were they were to fragile for the abuse from hunting off small boats.
BTW it was a pleasure doing business with you Dan.

Which stifness on these either of these blades is comparable to the Cressi 2000? The 30 or the 40? I am 5'9" 180#, but I prefer a stiffer blade.
