The Fish Drive for The Jack

Hey Everyone!

I want to start out by thanking everone who has donated so far, but we still need fish! Not just WSB eithier - it has been opened up to everything except opaleye!

So far here's a running total:

SD freedivers club meeting: +/- 30#WSB
Me: +/- 30#WSB, 5-10# Halibut
Tomol: 10# WSB
Bmorgan: 5#WSB
UnderH20hunter 3-4#WSB
John Hafner 5#WSB, 5# halibut
SDspearo 20# Tuna
Natedogg 20# mixed pargo, ono and mahi
Johnoly is going way beyond all of us and OVERNIGHT SHIPPING a bunch of filets FROM FLORIDA!!!!! Talk about stepping up.
Zen 15# WSB +/- 10#
Tino 5#Rockfish, 5#YT
Craig P 10# halibut
Ladvr tha halibut king 10#wsb, 10#halibut
Tom Harding wsb
Austin wsb and pargo
Kevin lynds halibut
Mori came through HUGE with a pile of Mahi, ono and other pelagics!

I roughly estimate we're ARE THERE!!!

I know the dive community can come up with this! Keep that fish coming in! If you are a club member, PLEASE call around in your club and see if you can scrape together some fish. Hell, let's make this a competition - I'll donate a case of (shitty) beer to whichever LA club donates the most fish. Of course, my money is that the SD freedivers will school the rest of then clubs anyways (and I'm not even a member).

A lot of the guys donating have only gotten 1 fish all season, yet they are stepping up and feeding the rest of us with the last of what they have. It's pretty inspiring and selfless!

I know there are a lot of you who have gotten multiple fish in the last couple weeks - please help to do something positive for the community!

Calll me or PM me! 949 280 8337 - I'll update the list as it grows!

Re: The Fish Drive for The Jack

I was hoping for a hamburger.

I was hoping to get you some fish today, but with small craft warnings, I'm waiting for call backs from the crew to see how dedicated they are. Forecast is 6 to 8 feet from the west and 3 to 4 feet from the south. The surf doesn't look huge near my house, but I'm afraid it might not be a lot of fun.

Good luck out there Bill!!!

Call me with a report if you go to!!!!!

I dunno though - with all the YT showing up I think the water has gotten too warm and all the fish have moved north. I think a YT would go nicely at he Jack BBQ too!!

It's going to be an amazing BBQ - Todd has been getting phone calls from tons of people who knew Jack and want to come down and enjoy the tribute and celebrate his life and love of the sport.

Lets make this an event to remember!!!1

I wouldn't go, Bill. But if you do, make sure you get back early. After 4:00 p.m. today the forecast calls for gales. And snow. And sharks.

Re: The Fish Drive for The Jack

Aw hell, we're canceled again. While I was loading the truck, Austin called from the bluff in Laguna and said the wind was blowing and it didn't look very inviting. At the same time it started drizzling on me, so I called Daniel, and he turned back north. It just didn't seem like it was worth the trouble of uncovering, hooking up, launching, finding out it sucked, and the reversing the process.

I'm blaming it on my young pussy crew.

Blame it on mother nature! I was planning on running over to Catalina tomorrow, but now not sure where to start out. Maybe just sleep in and go look at the beach and work on the kitchen some more.

All I can think of is God and Jack P went spearfishing on tuesday and guess who got the bigger fish.
