Re: Way off topic: Who bow hunts?

What bow are you looking at? Being an archery dealer and having shot many I can not put words into how happy I am with mathews. By far the BEST customer service. Great bows as well. The bowtech General (which we dont sell at my shop) Is even quiter than my longbow!!! A hair on the slow side but so so smooth. I would advise you to shy away from hoyt though. They are heavy compared to other newer bows and they dont stay tuned very. I did kill afew deer with my hoyt vulcan and did well in 3-d tourneys. Would never own another one though.

Mathews are awesome, but I like the old switchbacks better than any of their new bows. I wasn't a huge fan of the drenaline. When I shot the stock BT's I was blown away at the lack of shock and sound! I am interested in trying their new speed bows for kicks. I don't need anything that fast, but it would be a blast for 3d and would become my everyday bow if they were anywhere near as smooth as the Guardian/General.

I am certainly not a brand ho before anyone gets their panties in a wad. I don't own a BT, but have shot a few and liked them.

Another Traditional Bowhunter here....Shoot a longbow. Some company for deer season and some out-of-state hunts would be great. We should keep this going as the season is just around the corner...

You guys that are traditional archers have my respect for sure!!! I'm building a longbow slowly now...but the spearguns are taking precedence! I hope to be proficient with it for the 09 whitetail season.

Why the Sawtooth range? Have you been there?....Do you have some connection to or experience in the area?....Just wondering....I have hunted Idaho elk but on the Western side...from the south to just north of Council around Hells Canyon. If you have been there how would you describe it?

Also are you talking that part of the Sawtooth around Ketchum or around McCall?

The same here. have been teaching archery for 8 years and shoot a 70# recurve.
Last year went to Utah for elk with a cow tag in my pocket
then Louisiana for garfish and alligator

This year if I am lucky Texas for Javelina or maybe Arizona Sant Carlos Indian Reservation

Anyway I always looking for partners specially with the price of gas.

I'm a Hoyt man, myself. I like the feel of a heavier bow...

I had a Martin before switching to traditional. Good bow. Not quite as good as a plain ol' stick though

I shot and still have the Martin Warthog. It was probably better looking than it was great with a beautiful laminated wood riser. Everybody made fun of it and called it the "hog wapper" but at the end of the day I was the one eating Gods creatures.

I think it was Mike Eberhart who said spearfishing was 90% Indian and 10% arrow when I asked for some spear gun advice. Same most definitely goes for archery equipment.
