Re: Omer Cayman HF
I have used the hell out of a Cayman 75, so add a few inches to the tale-
First runs, the speed was so amazing that I was taking shots that were too far out. From the tip, I was getting kills at 6 feet or so. The gun was better served waiting/stalking until the fish was about 4 feet out. Due to the mass of the spear, it "tires" out a bit quicker, but within it's range, it is hard to beat for speed and extreme accuracy (no joke-insanely accurate). A 90 with those bands should be an absolute screamer, I would say that you could safely get shots to 6 feet and change and land the fish. This is just my experience with the shorter small diameter Euro guns- Someone else will pull longer shots, but these figures are the safe distances to score with very fast fish in the kelp, in my experience. Closer is better, as you can take advantage of the super speed of the shaft. My OPINION.

Re: Omer Cayman HF
You'll have plenty of power if you just shoot a single 20mm band out of it....

Re: Omer Cayman HF
single 18 is PLENTY! With 2 16's you are going to have more power than range. This will overpower the gun. I am now using my 110 with a single 18 for shafts of 6.5-7mm. It works great. The 2X16 will certainly work but I don't think you are gaining anything...other than extended loading time. Actually I take that back, being able to use a single band on the first notch is a great way to hunt around the rocks. Confused yet? Can't go wrong with the gun, incredible trigger sensitivity and ergonomics.

You'd be better with 2x14mm instead of 2x16, but I'd stick with the single 18mm like Matt said.

Re: Omer Cayman HF
I also have the 110. I shoot mine at least 50 times per week. I am using a 20 mm and a 18 mm band and a 6.5 mm shaft. I take shots at 12 feet with absolute comfort. The thing is incredibly precise. I wont say accurate because even the original testers showed it shot low and to the right. I find the exact same cluster with mine. But if you know where it shoots you can put 6 shots in a 2 inch circle. Total i have about 500 -700 shots on my gun. Heres a shot of my barrel showing wear and tear of 500+ shots and my targets from the last two weeks. The bottom line is take your HF out and test where it shoots at a certain distance, once you do this you can put a fish's eye out with it.

Re: Omer Cayman HF
My Cayman is in little pieces right now, but I am getting the parts to fix it.
Lesson- Stand the gun up in a rack on the boat, or lay it flat on the deck. Never have it sitting at an angle with the barrel and grip unsupported. I stepped on the mech during a shore launch (inflatable craft) with my toes and blew it into pieces. On rocky exits (shoredives) keep the gun parallel to the rocks and surf as best as you can. The weak spot is where the mechanism triggerguard and the line release intersect. What gives the gun it's outstanding feel and optimum hand position, is also it's Achilles (no pun intended-thats the brand of boat in which it snapped) heel. Great gun though. I still love it, and desperately want it fixed. As to accuracy? It nails exactly where I point, no Kentucky windage on mine...........
