riffe euro

Hey fello keys spearo's.

I'm looking for some advice. Im currently shooting a 50" riffe Mid handle ( i think its the hawaiin ) and im looking into getting a bigger gun maybe the riffe euro's. Is there any advantage or negatives to these guns ? has any body had any direct experience ?

any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance,

Re: riffe euro

It is a durable and accurate gun. But I suggest you go to a LDS and handle it to see how it is to grip and carry (loaded).

Re: riffe euro

if you decide to get it, go for the one one with the extension for hip loading

Re: riffe euro

I have the Euro X which is the euro gun with the extended butt and still sleak and low profile like the original euro.

Re: riffe euro

most definately get the euro X with the 5" butt extension for hip loading. one of the things i like about the euro is cutting through water when swinging it around its better.

Re: riffe euro

i've had a hard time switching between my mid handle gun and my 100cm euro gun.

it just doesn't seem to have the range and power. and the style of shooting is so different that i can't seem to get accurate to save my life.

nick i assume you're on scuba, so i would suggest going for something like a 60" seahornet or spearfishing specialties commercial. the great thing about them is they are ideal freeshaft guns.

i've got a couple different guns, if you wanted to try them out sometime.

Re: riffe euro

I've got a 110 with two bands, a reel and a flopper shaft. I absolutely love it. I keep my 54" Biller as a SCUBA gun, but I don't miss hip loading at all. Euro rocks. I also don't miss missing fish. I've been picking off smaller mangrove at over ten feet with dead on shots.

What is it you guys like about hip loading anyway?

Re: riffe euro

Having experience with both series, i would suggest the Baja or Baja plus spearguns instead. Great guns and really accurate.

That's because your now finally shooting legal fish Just kidding, you guys need to stop by the shop sometime this summer, I need photos of your fish for our wall.

As for the Euro X, it seems to be very popular at our store. Hip loading isn't really the best feature, but is one if your not used to the Euro's. Another great feature is the ability to stabilize it with the extension while aiming. I really like the speed and convenience of my euro (not the X), but I suggest getting some pointers on how to properly load it. We have had plenty of people try to return them because they became frustrated by not being able to load them, but with a :05 lesson and some patience, they fall in love with it. Good Luck, as with Keezdiver, feel free to stop in and take a look at what we have at the store.

Re: riffe euro

"What is it you guys like about hip loading anyway?"

you get to use your whole body...including your core...to load. making it easier.

i doubt there are many people who could comfortably load my big freeshaft gun.

65" long with two 5/8" 20" bands.

for reference...since my gun is very similar to a Riffe Island...the bands used on THAT gun are 28" long...and people think those are hard to load!

and i can load it while swiming after a fish.
