First Blood.......

Well as a California/Baja Charter operator that sponsors spearboard I figured I might as well throw up some new upcomming information.

First of all, Thanks Spearmax for making this part of the CA section!

Here is some new information on Gone to Baja spearfishing Expeditions. For years we have only operated by offering all inclusive 5 day trips.

We will now be offering a per day charter with a BRAND NEW 23'
panga with a BRAND NEW 115hp 4 stroke.

This was a huge deal for us, We were responsible for paying a certain portion of the bill but it was very small. We will recieve delivery of our new panga setup on July 25.

We are now going to offer a per day charter for this new panga at $400 per day for trips to the islands for spearfishing, and fishing.

This should make the area easier to hunt for those of us who would rather drop the 400 bucks than yank our $XX,XXX.XX boat through the border and then drive it through a random mix of whale sharks and un charted sea mounts.

Once again this is a BRAND NEW center console 23' super panga with a BRAND NEW Suzuki 115 4 stroke outboard on it. Dependability should not be a problem mechanicaly for another few years at least.

Still dont have a name for her yet......

When I get delivery I will post up some pics!

We have to drive to Ensenada ourselves to get it. We have the trailer set up already to go.

As far as the salty nuts statement......I only told you that to get you to taste em......

The Mexican government classifies a spearfishing guide service as eco-tourism?

I've got the perfect name for your boat...

"The King of Gnar".

How's that sound?

Yes,

Sportfishing, Spearfishing, Island excursions, tours, etc. Any type of tourist related activity that can be sustained while protecting the resource for the future. Besides spearfishing we hold a number of permits for camping on the various islands in the sea of cortez. Most every island in the sea of cortez is protected in some way and in order to even put your feet on it you have to have a permit and pay for a wrist band to be on the island. Enforcement of these laws is a little light but the laws are there.

I bought White Sea Bass fillets for $4.50 per pound in San Felipe. In addition commercial fishing just wipes out stuff as we all know. Tourism of one fishermen brings in much more money to the economy from fuel, hotels, things they buy, stores they use etc. than the amount of money created by a panga fishermen with a gill net that lives on the beach. In addition it is sustainable because of catch limits etc.

The idea is to provide help to services that use the resources of Mexico as a commodity to be watched over and taken care of, rather than provide new boats and engines for a gill netter.

The commercial guys will go after an area and rape it until its gone, Us spearos can go and hit an area and get our 5 fish and have a great time and not wipe the area clean. Besides as we all know there is no bycatch with spearfishing so other species dont get killed as a result.

The spearfishing guide service is only one of our services that we offer......but its my favorite

Re: First Blood.......

Hey Dale,

Who's making your super panga? is it Amato? a friend just, well about a year ago took delivery of his from Amato boats in Ensenada. We got it as a rough hull on a trailer, center con. fuel tank, and we had to do everything else to get it ready for the water(lots of work!)now I have two friends who have an Amato panga. Only had it out once, seems like a very worthy craft and at only 22' long and a full 8' beem it is very stable.

Supposedly it is ready to work with a complete deck built in, gauges, controls, and the fuel tank built in. We had an option to get a 27ft with a 150hp for the same price but we would have had to add all of the other stuff to it to make it ready. This one is supposed to be ready to go. We did not get a trailer from them cause we already had one.

Im not sure who the builder is but he is supposed to be one of the main guys in Ensenada. I am letting my Mexican counterpart Naty handle all of dealings with it. Lucky for me Naty is a boat handyman master and anything that we need to install will be handled by him.

This will be the first brand new boat I have ever had. Every other boat I have ever had in my entire life was a used engine boat. I cant wait to be spoiled on the reliability of a new 4 stroke outboard.

I like the names you guys are comming up with, Freedro is in first place with "Reina Del Oro" with "King of Gnar" a very close second.

Im still gonna have to install electronics and a radio.

Re: First Blood.......

That is really cool. I will have to get down to check out your operation sometime soon.

I like that the Mex. Gov't is promoting sustainable tourism. Its smart and the right thing to do.
