Slip Tip Help
This weekend i went out and did a little paddie hopping. The first few shots just were not hitting the fish and i could not figure out why. Joe asked me if my shaft was bent and i checked it that morning and it was straight. When i got home i told my fiance of my problem and she took a look at my spear shaft, everything appeared fine. Then she stood it up and twirled the shaft. Everything again appeared fine until she looked at the male end of my slip tip. The end of the slip tip was bent only a little amount.
Then we placed the tip on and twirled the shaft. You could see a dramatic difference when the tip was on. So the point of the story is check the male adapter of your slip tip if you keep missing shots. Does anyone know where i can get a new male adapter for a Mori Tip? I am looking for a 9/32 adapter. Any help would be appreciated Have a great day, Jonathan

Re: Slip Tip Help
I have never seen an adapter that was bent. Have you hit rocks with it? Was the hole in the adapter off center or not straight? If its the latter, then Mori should replace it.

Re: Slip Tip Help
I might have hit the rocks with it or it could have been bent in the many travels. I have no complaint what so ever about the quality, i just dont want to pay 90 bucks for the adapter.
The bend is right below the little ball at the end of the adapter. This appears to be the weakest part of the male end

Re: Slip Tip Help
with the adapter on the shaft (keeps the threads from shifting when hitting it), lay two pieces of flat metal under the adapter with the ball hanging over a little..tap the ball on the high side with a ballpeen hammer until it is centered again...you should be able to rotate the adapter across a flat surface and do an eyeball check for center...to be exact, rotate the ball and check the clearance all around with a shim type spark plug tool used to set the proper gap on plugs..

Re: Slip Tip Help
I'm pretty sure the 2 parts are matched. Meaning that 1 tip is made to fit 1 adapter. They all look the same but, I switched mine before and could tell the mating fit was not as good.
I could be wrong though. |

Re: Slip Tip Help
yes, (quality) sliptips and adapters are made for each other. if you want a new adapter, send the sliptip to its creator and they can make a new adapter for you.

Re: Slip Tip Help
So that was what happened.
![]() Wish I have an excuse for the shots I missed but I am afraid it's just the Indian in my case. All joking aside, I had the same thing happened to me a few years ago. So you are not the only one. I hit a rock and bent the male adaptor. I just bent it back best I could, and used the same sliptip for my hali gun. Don't need the accuracy when you are shooting so close at as broad a target as a hali. P.S. The dodo you boated didn't complain about the bent sliptip as I recalled.

Re: Slip Tip Help
You don't need to spend another $90.00. You can buy just the adapter from Mori. 9/32 slip-tips are the smallest/thinest anyone makes for a reason.. They can bend.. If it's a manufacturing defect I'm sure Mori will replace it for free. And yes, adapters and tips are individually matched up. Call him, we will be in the shop all day today. 310-628-8082

Re: Slip Tip Help
Earlier in the thread, I said I had never seen a bent adapter.
A friend just sent me this photo. Now I have seen a bent adapter.

Re: Slip Tip Help
Check with Damien at James and Joseph's, I know that they're carrying the Mori Slip tips..
