I actually have one of those but didn't even think to bring it. They work pretty good but mine started to "misfire" sometimes. As anybody who has the equalizer knows it hurts like hell if that thing goes off and the handle hits you.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. I'll definitely be night diving again soon with hopefully improved technique. I will probably go out around the next full moon even though I timed it wrong this time. (It was pitch black on the water and the moon was bright and straight over head while I was cleaning the boat at home.)
