Seabass?
Figured I would post this here since you guys are much more familiar with seabass than I am. Is this fish a seabass and have any of you ever seen this picture. This thing is huge and it resembles the white seabass you all have on your coast.

Re: Seabass?
Where was this gorgeous animal taken?
Our White Sea Bass is actually not a bass, but a member of the croaker family: Sciaenidae http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croaker I have never seen this picture or this species, but it does resemble a croaker of some sort...

Re: Seabass?
First thing I thought when I saw it was a giant replica of a hybrid rainbow trout mixed with a brown....

Re: Seabass?
Courbines or giant sea bass are croakers (not our Black Sea bass). They are found up through Morocco and Mauritania and even into the nile delta. Similar to our WSB.

Re: Seabass?
THey have loads of them on their site
They call them Courbines no doubt corbina. Or Una Bella Courbine in french. The photos below as well as your original are from Morocco and more specifically from a region called Dakhla. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Seabass?
since WSB are in the croaker family there are species around the world that share similiar traits in Australia there croaker species related to WSB are called mulloway. That fish pictured looks like a species from the middle east or even a freshwater species in that region.

Re: Seabass?
Cool fish. The spots on the lateral line are really cool. Sure looks like a WSB cousin. The last fish pic with the guy in green camo even shows that purple iridescence and some of the fish are showing the black spot near the insertion of the pectoral fin.
